Ask your child about their strategies to achieve these goals, ask how you can support them in being successful

Let the child take control of their achieving their goals, take a supportive role

Encourage children to solve own problems

Patience, give children time to solve problems, don’t do it for them

Provide strategies and helpful hints, not solutions, when children are stuck

Minimize controlling language, instead provide rationale and explanation when discussing difficult topics such as homework completion

Reduce pressure and control, instead support them in reaching objectives

Recognize feelings and perspective of child

Recognize failures as learning opportunities

Give choices, let them pursue their own academic interest.
